The Grey Reef section of the North Platte River near Alcova, Wyoming is a legendary fishery. Come see what the excitement is all about! It is a great opportunity for experienced and beginner fly fishing anglers to hone their skills on some very nice sized hard fighting fish. The best part is the number of fish in this section of river, estimates by the Wyoming Game and Fish Dept in 2013 are over 8000 rainbow trout per mile. The Grey Reef Section has not been stocked since 2001 and the fish that live there are strong healthy fish!
Come fish with Kingfisher Drifters and have a great day on the water. I will have nice equipment, friendly instruction, and a will make your trip the best!
North Platte River Guide
The fishing on these sections of the North Platte River is second to none. Beautiful scenery, wild fish and wildlife viewing, you can't beat it!
Imagine a winding river full of brown and rainbow trout, very few people, and the chance to see eagles soaring, moose, deer, pronghorn antelope, and the occasional bighorn sheep climbing on the rocky canyon walls. All in a day of fishing. This section of river is designated as a Blue ribbon trout river. It has not been stocked since 1979 and has had recent fish counts of over 4000 trout per mile. There are some very good dry fly fishing opportunities here and if you happen to hit the Green Drake mayfly hatch, it could change you forever!
If you are staying in Saratoga, it is always nice to end the day soaking in the hot springs pools. (These trips require special preparation due to "runoff" conditions, please inquire!)
For those of you looking to experience some awesome scenery and wildlife in Colorado, I can arrange for walk/wade trips into Rocky Mountain National Park. Catching brookies, browns and rainbows, as well as elusive cutthroats, are awesome during the terrestrial season! While hiking and slinging bugs, we have great chances to see elk, bighorn sheep and many other species of beautiful wildlife in Colorado!
